Homebrew DMR Repeaters using MMDVM
Our club has a DMR-MARC repeater in service. We would like to try
the Brandmeister network without making any changes to our existing DMR
system. The system using the Arduino Due micro with a ZUM modem board
and the Raspberry Pi running the MMDVM Host software. Every time I read
about this package I find there is a catch, such as having to use the
PI-2 instead of the PI-3. I have both and I prefer the PI-3. There is
also reference to a clock kit but no details. Is there any place where I
can get step by step instructions about which hardware I need to buy
and the software installation for the complete package?

Randy Campbell says:
Randy there is no problem using a PI-3. Just the usual changes like
disabling Bluetooth etc and using the proper rated power supply.
The TXCO clock kit is available, just contact Bruce at the mmdvm website.
Note that a new version of ZUM modem is about to be released that has improved modem and includes the clock kit.
The clock is not required, unless your Arduino drifts a lot. Mine works fine at room temps.
This project is very much DUI Development system, and requires a lot of reading thru the Yahoo group: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/mmdvm
You didn’t mention what repeater you were going to use.
This is a Homebrew system and usually a pair of mobile radios or a DR-1X repeater are used.

“The ‘modem’ package is made up of an Arduino Due micro with a ZUM modem
board as the front end, and a Raspberry Pi-2 running the MMDVM Host
software” would you have any pictures of your installations?
i am interested if possible too convert my MSR2000 VHF in something
Digital like the C4FM BUT i have no knowledge if it can be done!

Most answers are on my website http://ve1cra.net. For other info join the MMDVM Yahoo Group.
Yes MSR2000 does digital very well. Almost any FM radio with good
response will work if you have access to DISC from RX and TONE input to
TX. Most radios that have 9600b are ready to go.
