I want to connect DR1 with MMDVM. Just wondering about the connection because I have seen already three of them. For example this one:  I'd like to be sure for 100% before cabling. Can I go ahead with your cabling version?

Introduction

The Yaesu Fusion DR1 repeater was released in the spring of 2014 and was offered to amateur radio clubs and organizations for free. Since then an updated DR1X repeater has been released and Yaesu offered DR1 owners an upgrade to it for a nominal fee. The DR1 was considered a beta product and many mostly minor deficiencies were corrected in the newer product. I have no idea how many of these are out there but Yaesu was practically giving them away like candy so it is likely that you might already have one or have an opportunity to acquire one in the future.

Instructions

Important: Use only Compass Linux images and dstarrepeater packages. They contain support specific to the UDRC™. Source is available for review on GitHub.

During initial startup do not modify the basic Raspberry Pi setup. For example, do not overclock the Raspberry Pi, it is not needed as performance is more than adequate, and doing so can change clocking values on busses used by the UDRC™ causing it to either not function or be unstable. If you make any changes not listed in these instructions, and your UDRC™ does not function, return to the original settings.

ADR Interface

The ADR Interface allows the connection of an external repeater controller to the Yaesu DR-1x Fusion Repeater while still retaining the automatic mode selection capability of the repeater. The DR-1x only allows the use of an external controller for analog operation of the repeater however.

While the ADR was designed for use with our RC210 in mind, it will work with any repeater controller on the market.
Need for the interface

S-Cooling dr1x-interface

Microcontroller interface to control operating modes of the Yaesu DR-1X Repeater.

Purpose

Allows remote control of the Yaesu DR-1X Repeater. PTT and operating mode can be controlled remotely via a USB virtual serial port. The squelch input can be sensed using the same serial line.

The code samples the SQL pin and sends information about state changes to the computer. It also sequences outputs for the EXT I/O, MODE, and PTT pins when commanded to.

Question : Are you changing a Fusion system to TX in TDMA, or are you just adding a peripheral repeater with the MMDVM that's connected to the system fusion repeater?

Answer : Using the analog side of the DR-1 to connect to a MMDVM.. So now I have a C4FM, DMR, DSTAR Repeater.

Internal System Alignment Routine
This uses a programmed routine in the transceiver which simplifies many previously complex discrete component settings and adjustments with digitally-controlled settings via Microphone buttons.
To enter the Alignment mode: Connect the PANEL-UNIT to TX-MAIN-UNIT and RX-MAIN-UNIT.
Press and hold in the [D(X)] and [DISP)] keys while turning the transceiver on.
The transceiver is now in the "Transceiver mode".
Press and hold in the [POWER(LOCK)] key for two seconds.
Press and hold in the [F(MW)] and [GM)] keys while turning the transceiver on.
Press the [POWER(LOCK)] key. "LOCK" will appear in the display.
Press the keys of the Microphone in the following sequence.
[0] . [3] . [4] . [0] . [3] . [4]
Press the [POWER(LOCK)] key.  "UNLOCK" will appear in the display.
The transceiver is now in the "Alignment mode".
